If I'm fate (see meme, below), then I simply *must* have a word with the person whose car alarm woke me up at 4 this morning. It was the honking kind, too, and those really, really annoy the cats, who started meowing and pawing at me to alert me to the fact that they couldn't sleep. HEY! HEY LADY! Sigh. The honking madness continued for about an hour, right up until the time my roommate usually gets up. Today, I got up along with her and spent the extra hour productively puttering about the apartment. Still, I'm pissed off on general principle.

Car alarms really aren't too bad in my neighborhood, even though it borders on urban. It was much worse when I lived in New York City, and I can understand why folks there are up in arms about it.

Wow - Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11 has just won the Palme d'Or at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. I guess this means we really will get to see it here in the states; possibly even before the election. This could make finding a new distributor for the film a bit easier for the Weinsteins. It'll be interesting to see who steps up.

As far as content goes, I'm primarily interested in the interviews Moore's crew conducted with US servicemen and women; the other stuff he goes into (the Bush family link with the Saudis and the bin Ladens in particular) has already been reported in various books over the last few months. Farenheit 9/11 certainly has the potential to appeal to a wider audience. I'll be watching this one carefully.

She's big into obscure 60s and 70s cartoons, and there are some great Quicktime clips to be seen.

Things are very busy at Casa Sullivan, from which the 'rents are preparing to move next weekend. I'll be out there to help again tomorrow, and will be staying for a Kerry fundraising party in the evening. Kerry and Ted Kennedy will be teleconferencing in, which'll be neat.

I'm getting my summer reading list together, and I saw a great review on Salon for Opening Skinner's Box. Must...add...another...book....

The job hunt continues, and I've got resumes circulating Out There. Latest was sent to Carnegie Hall, where my old boss from Curtis is now the Spokeswoman. How'd she get there? Oh, you know. :)

Still waiting to hear more from Viacom, and I had a very nice interview with a small telecoms company in East Hanover, NJ this week. Not sure if I actually want to stay in telecoms, but it would be nice to be asked. Know what I mean?

Sometime this weekend I hope to catch Shrek 2. Need laughs desperately, and Mike Meyers never disappoints. Usually. Jane, get me off this crazy thing...called life!

I'm going to try to keep up with this a little better. So what's been going on since the Revlon Run/Walk (at which our Fellowship of the Scribes team raised over $10,000)?

I got another letter from Ed Gillespie; this one mildly threatening:

Our records show that your membership in the Party is listed as "inactive" - although we have tried several times to reach you at home in Bloomfield without success."

Ulp. It sounds like the Party will soon be knocking on my door at midnight. Wonder if I'll get to see Herr Rove in person.

"Your name has been given to me as a loyal Republican in New Jersey. Our records show you are not an active member of the Republican National Committee. Given how much you've done for the Party in the past, this tells me that either our records are incorrect or you have decided not to renew your membership."

I'd definitely go with choice number one, Ed.

Along with the usual multi-requests for "$25, $50, $75 or even $100 today", Ed closes with this goodie:

"If you are not going to renew, please take a few moments to tell me why by making your comments on the reply and returning it to me. Thank you."

Ah, dear Ed; the enclosed reply card simply isn't large enough to contain all of the reasons I do not wish to be a part of your Party. So sorry to disappoint.
